It seems that after arriving to Germany I should go to Town Hall to update my VISA. How long is this process? Because I want to make a travel to India in December. I appreciate your replies. Ruban.

Your visa will be valid for the first 3 months. It will be extended for a longer period afterwards. So you can apply for an extension before you go to india and it will be done on the same day.

Normally you have to wait till the end of the period(1 or 2 weeks before it expires). But you can try your luck by asking earlier. But i dont think they will extend as soon as you register.

My ABH advised to go as early as possible. Because you are NOT being issued a visa for your spouse for 12 months "after" the threee months, but including them. So at the end you get another 9 months visa only! (12 monaten ab Einreise)
