I am writing this message with a specific query.

I had been employed with a work contract at the University for the past 3 years and I am currently writing my Phd thesis. Now, my contract has run out and am on ALG1. My wife has got an admission in a University in Germany and she wants to study, and hence will be here with a student visa. I plan to finish my Phd thesis as soon as possible and I am positive in acquiring a job here in Germany itself.

My specific question is : When I do get employed and have a work contract and work permit visa in my hand, can I convert my wife's student visa to a dependent visa from Germany itself without having to go to India to initiate the dependent visa process from India ? 

If anyone has had similar experiences, please do share on this forum. Myself and probably others as well can benefit from your answers.
