Hello Everybody,

I started to work in Germany from January this year with a contract for 4 years. My employer told me that they sucessfully got a work permit for me. I got a residence permit valid for only a year till 1st Jan 2009.

I went to the Foreign office to renew my residence permit. They told me that they will contact the Agentur fur Arbeit for permission and it would take 4 weeks.

1) Does this mean I would need a fresh work permit? going through EU labour market test?

2) My employer does not have a copy of my work permit. Is it possible to get a copy of my original work permit from Agentur fur Arbeit?

1. Yes Agentur für arbeit will check once again going through EU labour market

2. Your work permit will be printed on your passport with your visa
