Renewal of Indian driving license

I am holding German Citizenship (obtained recently) with OCI. Also I am possessing German Driving license since 2001. My Indian Driving License is getting expire in Jan 2010. Can I authorise my brother to renew it on my behalf as I will not be able to travel next year to India. Are there any special regulations for OCI?
Anybody has same experience?
