I am immatriculated for PhD but my present visa is according to §18.

As my work contract will expire in next three months and probably will not be renewed, I went to ABH with my concerns about visa extension. And ABH told me that my visa can not be extended untill I get prolonged or a new work contract as my present visa is according to $18 which is not a student visa.

Now my thesis writing is in progress and I would like to extend my visa to finish PhD. The maximum extension I need is for six months so as to pack my bags for good.

I am a non-EU citizen living in germany since four years according to §18.

What kind of steps may I follow to get an extension of six months without a work contract. Thanks, Jinx.
