Chennai consulate has asked for verification of our marriage certificate for my wife's dependent visa. We live in Bangalore.

1) How much time does it take to complete verification?

6 to 8 weeks

it has been more than 3 months when i applied for spouse dependent visa.
even i was told same, but later they asked about some photos and 8000Rs more and some other documents related to marriage. now i do not know how long further they will take.

Hello all,

we applied from chennai consulate and they also did marriage verification for us, they asked us to send a dd of 20000rs so now it is les for you people. It took 10 weeks and there was no acknowledgement from them after sending the documents by post. We called the call center after 2 weeks for confirmation may be you can try that way.

Be patience!
Normally Spouse visa duration is 8 to 12 week.
where as Marriage verification process is again of 8-12 weeks.
It depends how fast it is done. In my case it was of 4 weeks.

 Can we show photos of marriage and register marriage's pictures during interview? will that convince them not to ask for marriage verification ??

I dont think they will accept/convince with the Photos(my case it was happened).
They will inform you seprately(if they want to go for marriage verification) via mail to submit the photos and some amount in DD.

Before getting Marriage verification message from consulate, did u had any interview with local ABH office? If so, when?

1. Your marriage certificate got apostile?
2. Have you submitted translated Marriage certificate?
3. Did your marriage certificate contains the details of DOB, passport no. address and witness signature?
4. Your name has endorsed on your wife passport?
5. From which consulate you have applied thru?

In my opinion the best way to prove genuineness of the marriage, in addition to wedding and registered civil marriage photographs, are the following:

1) Change surname of spouse in his/her passport (Rs. 6000 and 10 days for Tatkal passport)
2) Attest photocopy of marriage certificate from an authorised Govt. of India notary (Rs. 300 for 6 attested photocopies)
3) Get an official German translation of marriage certificate from MMB (Rs. 250 per translated copy)
4) Open a joint bank account, if possible at a nationalised bank, and use the bank passbook as additional proof.

Point 1) is the strongest proof because you have a Central Govt. ID stating wife's new surname on 1st page and name of husband on the last page.

We have done all the above and submitted the application last week. Now is the waiting period....

We are staying in Munich and recently we got letter from Landesamt and asked us to send the documents required for the verification process.  I have a query about the document that mentioned in German consulat chennai website. 

abot the Indian home address with stating the local police station number and also the post office address. Do you know anything about this?
