Hi,

Can anyone tell me that what are the steps after I surrender my old Nationality and recieve a renunciation (ausbürgerung) certificate.

How much time does it take to get the German passport after I have surrendered my old nationality?

Do I get a German identity card first and then the passport? and how soon can I travel?

I need to plan a trip and I need to know a rough timeline of events.
You may share how was your experience after you got the zusicherung.

Hi Umerk,

The steps would be mentioned clearly on your Zusicherung: They are
1.) Take the surrender certificate and submit it to the person who processed your application
2.)Therefore getting a new passport depends on the time it takes you to get the surrender certificate
3.)I am not sure of the travel thing.
4.) Getting a german passport could take a month or so. But there is an option of getting the express passport by paying more. This would take 2-3 days.

These are the steps I know of and am in step no. 1 myself. 2,3,4 were what my ansprechpartner told me to do.
