After living in germany for 8 years and 1 month i have finally got my German Citizenship. My sincere thanks to this forum members and Detlef for showing us the way.

Short info about the Timeframe.

Student 2000 - 2002
Work 2002 - :-)
BE 2005
Application for NE 09/2007
Application for Citizenship 11/2007
NE 02/2008
Citizenship 04/2008

All applications in Frankfurt, Hessen. For Citizenship have submitted Integration Course Certificate. Normally takes longer(1 year or more) in Hessen but probably becos of having applied for NE just before Citizenship application could have made the process faster for me. Can count myself as one of the luck ones.

Why didn't you apply for citizenship a year or 2 before?
Do you think it's a good idea to attempt that after 6 years?

Yes, atleast in Hessen

I finished my Integration course only last year and applied after that. Dont think i had the eligibility 2 years before.

Convincing the Beamter about the 6 year thing will be a herculean task as it is vaguely framed. Anyways you can try your luck. It may work out.

Application for citizenship on 12/2007

At the begining of the May, I received a letter from Darmstadt Prasidum that they got all the papaers and I need to inform if there is any changes ( like job, marital status and so on..) I called Darmstadt Prasidum to know the update. She told me that she does not know when I would get it.She is waiting for the information from different AMT like Criminal, ordnungs and so on..

Could you please tell me

1. How long it took for you after getting letter from Darmstadt Prasidum ?

As i informed before, one cannot make an educated guess about the time it takes to get it. One of my friend applied in starting of 2007 and is still waiting for the result, inbetween he got letter from RP-Darmstadt asking for salary statements. When he called, the standard reply was they are waiting for some results...

In my case, I applied and forgot about it completely. I never called them on the phone asking for the status etc. They are doing their job and there maybe lot of files to work on. Just chill out and continue with your life. It will come knocking on the door when you least expect it.

- Anything else ?!?!

New change from 01.09.2008, so you have to do the Orientierungs course.

your message was very helpful for me. I have a query about my case:

I studied in Germany too and had returned to India after my studies (Did an Abmeldung) and arrived again on Green Card in 2001. I have been asked by Präsedium Darmstadt to wait till 2009 (in order to complete 8 years), but with the integration course i have the possiblity to reduce this lead time to 7 years. I can speak German too.

Will appreciate if someone could throw more light on following questions:

-can the integration courses be waived off if the applicant has a German degree?
-Must the applicant have some Bescheinigung from the AB or some other office in order to visit such courses?
- If the person speaks German, then he/she still needs to go through the language courses offered in the integration course?
- I am still not sure about the real duration and content of the integration course.

your questions have been discussed in this forum several time - try to search in archieve.

in short words -
- you don't need to repeat the ZD test if you have the certificate already
- you have to joint the orientations course (45 hours) - you can pay by yourself - the course is 2,3 euro per hour - get 'orientierungkurs teilnahme bescheinigung'

- send your ZD + teilnahme to BMAF to get integration course certificate.

Can you please advice me on the final stages of Einbürgerung ?

do you need to produce salary certificates or any other documents from Arbeitgeber?

I have this question because i am planning to take a sabbatical (for finishing my doctoral studies) and i plan to reduce my working hours (for atleast 6 months!!)

as i have applied already with all necessary documents, will there be any questions on the regard of salary?

Or woudl you advice me to do this break after i get my papers?

They always ask for the salary receipts. I was asked twice during the process

It is important to continually fulfill the criterias until they take the decision to issue the Einbürgerungsurkunde and that is having a secure job with salary.

That is always the best option. No complications and you dont give them the chance to delay their decision for your application.

I remeber giving the Arbeitsbescheinigung the first time, later it was only salary receipts

You are normally supposed to inform them about any changes in your work. As far as i know, changing jobs is not a problem.

As I understood that one can get Integration course certificate from BAMF by sending copies of ZD exam + Orientering kurs participation. Could someone pls tell me the address/tel. nr of BAMF, which is responsible for Integration certificate?

Congratulations. There was a discussion to choose between PIO or OCI. Do you know whether German citizens of Indian origin are eligible for OCI ?.

I remember that the Indian government initially wanted to give OCI only to Indian origin citizens of US, UK etc. I lost track of that news thread.

Just wanted to share Detlef, MH, Nobody usw...I got Naturalization-Certificates last week(for myself and family). The Passport, Ausweiss(NID) will be given within 2-5 weeks.

This Forum is really helpful to get useful info and govenered by a sympathic team: Mr. Detlef.

Hi,

I just came from my meeting and they told me that I can start procedure if I want now and then later provide "Einbürgerungstest" results.

They (in Karlsruhe) still do not know how this test will work but expect that some information will come in following weeks. There is no info where and by whom test will be organized.

Anyway, procedure can start.

This test would based on the Orientierungskurs. Just google Einbürgerungstest and you will come up with 100 online questions.

But, its not definite that you will be asked from those questions, it defines the patterns.

Also, some question like:
if you have a situation(arbeitslosigkeit), which amt you would consult(arbeitsamt :-)) usw.

Hi,

Today i got my Einbuergerung URKUNDE after 2 months of waiting in NRW. The following things were considered for Einbuergerung.
1. 10 Year in Germany
2. ZDF
3. Asked about deutsch gesetz
4. Salary Slips
5. Birth Certificate ( translated in German)
6. Marriage Certificate( translated in German)
7. Deustche Sparch test for kids

Thats all.

They asked me the basic question.
for example : how many states in Germany ?
What is the law related when you rent an Apartment ?
What will you do in case of any accident ?
Some of them i don´t remember.

I don´t need lebenslauf since my German is quite good for them to ask.

today i got my einbürgerungsurkunde. I must say that trust7 forum helped me very much for each of my queries throughout the process.

I have one more question!

Together with me, I also applied for my two years old daughter. I was expecting that atleast she will be allowed to keep dual citizenship till the age of 16, as my wife is currently having indian citizenship, BUT beamter denied that and also coollected her passport alongwith mine.

Anybody with similar experience.Is beamter right? what does law says ? Thanks in advance.

just attack those 310 questions, i mean just do einburgerungstest formality.

Does any one know how long should be a Job contract valid to apply for German Citzenship ? I have a job contract till 31.03.2014 and i will be eligible for German Citzenship Aug 2013 (7 year). May i apply for it or the contract should be unlimited ?

You need to show them Permanent Job Contract while applying for German Citizenship.
They don't consider limited contracts.
