Hi Hari,

you can find most of the answers in our 'Blue Card' section:

Can family members of Blue Card holders enter Germany at the same time?

Yes. Family members may accompany the Blue Card holder and will receive residence permits in Germany as well.

So your friend has to apply under § 19 a for the whole family.

Can family members of Blue Card holders work freely within Germany?

Family members of Blue Card holders may immediately work without restrictions.

And regarding the size of the flat... no one will really care about this ;-

Good luck for your friend

Hi Detlef,

Thank you for giving information.

he is getting only work permit in india. he has to go to germany in another 2 months and then he has to apply for blue card . there is no separate application for blue card if we are applying from india.

Does still your answer is applicable for my questions case1,case2,case3?

you mentioned that family members can work immeditely without restrictions. so conversion of spouse visa to work visa as a part of blue card is not required. can you confirm whether this understanding is correct?

Thanks and Regards
Hari

Hi Hari,

what do you mean with 'he is getting only work permit in india'?

We are talking about the Blue Card, work permit for Germany?

The German Embassy/Consulate just take the application, check if the required documents are correct and complete and then send it to the alien office in charge in Germany. Usually the officers at the Consulate even not know about the Blue Card and they are processing the application as a normal work permit, as they have done it for years. Nevertheless your friend and anybody else who wants to come to Germany, should write on the top of the application form, that the application should go under § 19 a Blue Card.

Then there is no way to misunderstand for the alien office in Germany. The German alien office will send the visa/work permit to India and in the stamp he will get $19a will be mentioned. That's it.

Hi,

Thank you and its very nice information.
how much time will take to get  work permit visa (as well as mentioned 19a on application for blue card)  if applied in india?
does there any fast process that they are processing nowadays due to blue card?
but consulate officers in india  are telling 6 to 8 weeks .
