Wanted to know if transit visa is required for travelling by türkish airlines.

Has anybody got any good or bad experiences with this airline.

I guess not. but check with Reiseburo.
We travelled in Feb 2004 Munich-Instanbul-Delhi and back. we did not need VISA.
No idea if any rule change after ward.

I am not sure whether Indians need a Visa for a transit visit in Istanbul.

I found this here :

and it doesnt list India as a country which is listed under "Visa not required section". But check it with the Travel Agency to be on the safe side.

about Turkish Airlines.. I have used their service more than once and I was satisfied with it. They are definitely better than those cheap "charter" companies flying to Turkey. They are close to the quality of Lufthansa, if you want a comparison.

I am planning a trip to india in march or april with türkish airline. But am not sure if transit visa is requiured in case of overnight stay.

Anyone who stayed overnight can share his experience.

I think if you leave the Airport to stay at what ever reason, you may need visa.

But I sugget you not to use this airline, because when we (with my family) went to India. The experience staying in in Istanbul was bad. They put us in the Hotel for 3 days -;).

If you like such kind of opertinity to have, then it is OK, otherwise go for alternative.

As long as you dont exit the Airport on your own, for sightseeing or so, you dont need to have a transit visa in any country. But then you will be under their control, and they will take you in seperate bus/van to the hotel and back. You will have to surrender your passport. I had experience with one day´s overnight stay in Doha while flying Qatar Airways to Trivandrum.
