I am working in IT in Germany since Jan 2008 . I have a arbeit abhängig working visa and it is valid till nov 2009. Now in the meantime I have got another job which is much better than my old job. They have sent me the contract and I need to join them from 01.07.2009. In my work contract it is mentioned that I should resign Sechs Woche zum Quartalsende. My question is "So what is the latest date I can resign from my job?"


I sent a resignation letter to my company from Express DHL post on14.05.2009 and it was suppose to reach my company 15.05.2009(Friday), but the office was closed at 07:38 and so the post could not be delivered on Friday. As I have also faxed and email my resignation on 15.05.2009 to my company so my company knew that They will be getting my post, so they purposefully did not collect my post on Friday 15.05.2009 but they collected the same on 18.05.2009 (Monday). Will my resignation be accepted?
Moreover 6 weeks befor quater is 6*7 = 42 days or 6 whole weeks?
