I wonder...does some of ex GC have an DE citizenship or try to get it?

As we know that first GCs arrived to Germany in August 2000 and the German citizenship requires at least 7 years of residence, then the first GC Naturalizations should not take place before August 2007 ;)

May I know how far you are and what is with your NE?I think you wait on it or?

I am still waiting for NE, but my situation is a bit more stable because of an old Turkish-German agreement. (ARB 1/80)

yes, I just enrolled for Orientationkurs(2nd part of Integrationskurs, besides Sprachkurs) in December, hopefully, allowing one to apply after 7 years stay in DE.

There are famous old-GCs(NE now) Nobody, MH(my Ex-colleague) etc.

One might also apply with/without family.

For enrollment, you visit your "Einbuergerung Abteilung" in your city in Ordnungsamt and confirm, whether what you did with your Sprachkurs is enough, the rest part of Integrationskurs is "Orientationskurs", which you should register yourself with VHS to get in 1 week.

Hope, you could get more and exact info at your concirned "Einbuergerung Abteilung" than from others.

I have a few questions regarding the topic being discussed.
1. Where can i find the eligibility criteria for applying for german citizenship.
2. I read in one of the posts that after getting NE, one can apply for citizenship after a wait of another year and a half. Is that true or is it 7 years and not 6.5 years of residency to be eligible ?
3. What are these integration courses and are they mandatory ?
4. Any idea how long does the process take after application.

I know the list is long, but I guess, it will benefit many people in a similar situation as I am.

4. It depends upon your Stadt as well as the process by your Consulate/Home-Ministry to cancel your current nationality.

On Average, it would take 6 months to 1 year.

Durch bundesgesetzliche Regelung soll festgeschrieben werden, dass von einzelnen Voraussetzungen Ausnahmen möglich sind, soweit die Integration gesichert ist, und für Bewerber, die besondere Integrationsleistungen insbesondere beim Sprachniveau erbringen, die Mindestzeit des rechtmäßigen Daueraufenthalts auf sechs Jahre verkürzt werden kann.

This was decieded in 180. Konferenz der Innenminister und -senatoren der Länder (IMK) in Garmisch-Partenkirchen from July 2006.

So if anyone from you has finished 6 years and he is perfect in German, then you should be able to apply for it !

What does this sentence quoted by you mean ? "soll festgeschrieben werden"
it means "it shoul be written".. so this is just an "advice" how the law may look like in the future, if it comes to reality one day.. just an advice.. nothing more, nothing less..

It is possible that it goes through, but if you read the text you'll see that in general they are not too keen on making it easy.

I received today my "einbügerungsurkunde " in Bayern

my cas was:

1 year German language
3 years study in UNIverity
4 ,5 GC

duration 2 Months

Congrats U both/all, who were able to get CZ, but only after 8 years and not less than that.

The point, where the Integrationskurs came into discussion is due to reduction of 1 year i.e. 7 years.

Therefore, one who wishes to apply after 7 years, should do the Integ. stuff ready by then.

BTW, could you share, what type of questions were raised regarding Germany System /laws etc.

I have one question:
6 or 7 years legal stay periods for citizenship requirements could be any kind of legal stay ?.
For instant one person is student 6-7 years and now on job for few months. Would he be able to apply for citizenship?

Are there any conditions what kind of(student, job etc) this 6-7 years period should be?
