I am an Indian IT specialist working and living in Germany since October 2005. My work permit was issued in March 2005 itself. It is company-bound and has rather strange terminology.Since my German is not that good, I would put the exact Aufenthaltstitel here:
Unselbstaendige Beschaftigung nur gem. 27Nr. 1
BeschV als IT-Spezialist
bei XYZ firma gestattet.
Der aufenthaltstitel erlischt mit Beendigung der o.g. Beschaeftigung.
Selbstaendige Taetigkeit nicht gestattet.
Keine weiteren gueltigen amtlichen Eintragungen.

I understand, from the above, that I am allowed to stay and work here only with my firma. Also, i cannot work independently. I don't understand what the last line means.
Mainly, I want to now switch to another company in Germany and want to know if and how my visa can be transferred.
Am I not entitled to get a BE now that I have lived and worked here for 2 years?

I am totally confused.Please help!

Only god knows why they write something like that in Aufenthaltstitel :-)

With 2 years working in Germany, you should be able to get BE. Then you may change company as many times as you wish. So, go get your BE first.

I hope there is no further special clause in visa which will restrict to me to get BE :-)

Is it better to go through any lawyer applying for BE or I should just go by myself.

Otherwise in first place just try your luck with the BE, and then you will know what the Ausländerbehörde has to say about it.

Basically it should be no problem changing your employer after having worked for two years in Germany. The law allows for a BE - which you already have for your current employer - to be granted after two years of legal empolyment without approval from the Federal Employment Agency (i. e preferential access of Germans or other EU citizens).

' Keine weiteren gueltigen amtlichen Eintragungen ' has some meaning. recently, I changed my job and because it was an internal job transfer between different branches, only a small extra line was added to my existing Work permit to continue working at new place. So "No further official entried allowed" states that no further modifications to the present visa bindings. Mayank, u shd apply for a new work permit or BE ...
