I recently bought a house and I am yet to have the "Wohngebäudeversicherung" for the same. I have the following questions :

1. How important it is to have this "Wohngebäudeversicherung"? Can I live without it?

2. What does "Wert 1914" means? AM I expected to mention the price of this house in 1914? If yes, how do find this out?

", as you bought a house, and had to go to a Notar who certainly read the contract that was in German, I assume you know German so a simple Google search suffices --> http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gleitender_Neuwertfaktor
