I was wondering, in your experience, how long it took for your family reunion visa. Some say it took 6 months! Does it make a difference if you are married to a German Citizen?

The embassy contacted my wife (by Email) 2 weeks after she applied for the visa and asked her to submit a DD of Rs 12000 and original marriage ceritificate for the marriage verification.

You dont have to follow up with the embassy in India ,but you can follow up with the ausländerbehorde here in Germany (if they are friendly)

Thanks once again for your prompt response. The thing is it has been almost 6 weeks and I have heard nothing. They have not asked for a DD or verification.

But if you recommend getting in touch with the office in germany I can try that although I was not given a reference number for my file or any indication of who exactly to contact.

Sorry for all these queries I just don't know what to expect. Are you German yourself? Did you get in touch with the immigration office?

Didnt you get a receipt for the visa application fees?
when I applied for 3 members, I got 3 receipts.
In my communication with Embassy, I always refer this receipt number.

I am sure you must be having this receipt.

I didn't get a receipt and was not asked to pay anything. They said since I am married to a German the visa process is free.

I have not been asked for any verification either.

In our case it was 2.5 months (we are both Indians).

Its my personal experience and also some times its very much needed to contact the ABH....if you need any further info u can read my story in spouse visa delay...i hope mine is a very wrost case scnario.
