Visa Questions

Re: Newborn passport/residence permit procedure

Toggle
Hello,

What's the procedure to follow for a newborn to get a passport and residence permit in Germany, to be able to later travel with either parent?

Both parents have residence permits(D-EG & Aufenthaltserlaubnis)

Parents are visiting their home country in april with their son.

Thanks.

Get a passport(home country) for the newborn and get a residence permit for germany from the foreign office.

Get a passport(Germany if eligible) for the newborn and get a travel visa from home country.

Thanks Raj for the quick reply.

The question is when he gets a passport in the home country, how is he allowed to travel back to Germany without Visa or Residence Permit on it?

The same question applies for leaving Germany without passport or Visa/Residence. Is that allowed?

In case of Pakistani,

You will get pakistani passport of new born baby from Consulate General of Pakistan Frankfurt or Embassy Berlin, depending where you live. Normally you will send the docs and in two days you will get the passport back.

If new born is German, you will be notified with in two months in written and with respective procedure otherwise you will get a letter asking you to make an appointment with Auslanderbehorde to get a VISA stamped for new born.

Regards,
Zeeshan.

@AxEnNeSo

If the child was born in germany and still here, he cannot travel outside without a valid passport, so you have to get a passport here in germany from the home consulate and apply for german visa in foreign office before leaving in april.

If the child was born in home country and has not travelled to germany yet, get passport locally in home country and apply for visa in german consulate before travelling back to germany.

Thank you for your replies.

So the passport has to be issued by the corresponding consulate in Germany and the child should get a residence permit before being able to travel.

I will call the consulate tomorrow to enquire more.
