My residence title expires 3 days after I enter Germany from vacations in India. I have an appointment to get it renewed though. Legally, I guess I would be allowed to enter, but has anyone been in this position where immigration officers caused troubles even if I show them the renewal appointment?

It should not be an issue, but if you have a proof of your appointment at Aussländerbehörde it will be of great help.
