Hi,

as a tourist you can go without any paperwork. If you want to work you have to apply for the Blue Card of the selected country within 1 month:

The EU Blue Card also entitles the holder to spend visa-free periods of up to 90 days per half-year in the other Schengen states for the purpose of tourism. Holders of an EU Blue Card can enter another Member State without a visa after 18 months and apply for the EU Blue Card of that Member State within a period of one month.

This excludes UK, Ireland and Denmark

Hi Hemanth,

Yup..I agree with Detlef as he listed out all the relevant points.

Just a small addition. You need to secure a work contract in the country where you intend to move and apply at their foreigner's office.

Hi Detlef,

One question. Is it a mandate that the 18 months tenure with Blue card has to be with one employer?

Thanks in advance

I have another question related to same area. If a Blue card holder of Germany wants to move to Netherlands after 18 months and if he has secured a job contract too from a company in netherlands, will the salary criteria of Netherlands for Blue card will be checked in this case? The german blue card salary limit is generally near to 47000 Per annum (for non IT kind of jobs) while the dutch one is close to 62000 Per annum. So if a person is going to earn say 58000 PA in his new job contract in netherlands, will he be eligible for a dutch blue card or will not get a blue card?

Dont apply for blue card transfer. Apply for normal workpermit and the limit is 52000 euros.
Good luck.

I would like to include my question here...

After completing 18 months work in German company as a blue card holder and moved to UK.

1. So after moving to UK this blue card will be still valid for 12 more months?

2. If it is valid for another 12 months, can I enter the schengan areas with this blue card for this period?

Kindly give me your valuable comments and your experiences.
