German citizenship

Hi everyone,
I understand that Germany now allows dual citizenship. I am an American citizen born in the US in 1959, and I still live in the US. My mother was born and raised in Germany, and although she has been living in the US since 1957, she still retains her German citizenship. Under these circumstances, am I eligible for German citizenship?

I was born in 1960 in Germany to a American Father and German Mother. I
received a German Birth Certificate and lived in Germany until the age
of 12. Is it possible I have a German Citizenship? How do I find out?
