Our baby is born here in Germany, now I would like to get Indian passport for him asap.
I have following queries:
1. Photographs: How can I take passport size photo of a 5 day old baby :-)
2, Do I need to any keep any other thing in mind before applying for Indian passport?

there are many documents that you need to prepare.

Prepare them all. it would take a week at least and your son will be 2 weeks .

in photo studio, inform them that you need Passbilder with 5*5 cm for indian pp.
they have some baby basket in which the kid can be safely kept for the photo. it is important that the baby is not sleeping,i.e. eye should be open. there will be some challenge for you. you may have to wake him up if he is sleeping or wait until he wakes  up
you will manage..dont worry.


there is another challenging part. you have to get his thump impression for the application form
that u can do while he sleeps..but dont worry much... i dont really know why it is even asked..

sorry. i didnot have personal experience of applying for an indian passport for my child.

The link seems to be for foreign citizens applying for Indian visa or Indian citizenship. I think merely applying for passport of newborn, with the fact that the parents are Indian citizens is sufficient to provide Indian citizenship to the newborn.

i think the infor from "rvkvaradhu " is the right one. i made this this Januray for my little one (from Munich, allthough the forms are the same)

and :
-a copy of the Passports of you and your spouse, 
-birth certificate of the child,
- a confirmation letter from german authority that the child hasn't applied for a German citizenship (you can get this from the Rathaus)
-Photo of your child (normally they say taken from a studio..with eyes open..its tough but we managed for our little one with a Photographer)
