Hello,

I am in Germany with an EU Blue card.
My wife is also here with a residence permit and I am in Tax Category III.

But she will have to move back home for some personal reasons and will be back before the end of 6 months.

My question: Do I need to switch back to Tax Category I during this period or continue in III as she has a valid residence permit?

If she comes before the end of 6 months time, then absolutely not a problm. You tax class will remain 3 only. 

If your wife doesnt enter within 6 months time, her resident permit get cancelled and you vl be forced to change to Tax Class 1. 

So kindly make sure of it. Dont lose the resident permit and tax category
